The ferry ride across the Sound was a balm to Maya's soul. The wind whipped her hair back, carrying with it the salty tang of the sea. She leaned against the railing, watching the shimmering water stretch to the horizon. The scholarship covered tuition, and for the first time in her life, she wasn’t worried about money.
