The aroma of freshly baked bread filled the apartment, mingling with the scent of cinnamon. Daniel had spent the afternoon experimenting with a new recipe, and the kitchen was a testament to his efforts. He leaned against the counter, savoring a slice of still-warm bread.

“A rabbit, Daniel? A rabbit?” Michael's voice had an edge to it. "The hay, the droppings... We can't have a messy animal."

Daniel’s shoulders tensed slightly, the bread suddenly losing some of its appeal. “I just want some company.”
