Gemotions

Michael propped himself up on his elbows in bed, the morning light already flooding the room. He’d woken up early, unusually at peace. The family albums lay open on the comforter. He'd decided to revisit the past, hoping for some answers. He'd always known his father as a brilliant but introverted academic, a man who preferred books to people. Yet, in one photo, he saw him beaming, surrounded by friends in a crowded nightclub, a cocktail in his hand. The stories he'd heard painted a different picture, one of a solitary, studious youth. A small smile played on Michael's lips.
