The soft click of the knitting needles was the only sound in the living room besides the crackling fire. Amelia’s fingers moved with effortless grace, looping the yarn, creating intricate patterns with practiced ease. The fire cast dancing shadows across the walls. A warm glow emanated from the hearth. It washed over her as she worked on the cable-knit scarf. Her shoulders were loose, her back was straight and her breaths were deep. Her daughter, Lily, usually flitting and fidgety, was unusually quiet tonight, watching, completely engrossed.
