The afternoon sun, a warm weight on Amelia’s skin, filtered through the blinds, casting stripes across her desk. She leaned back in her chair, fingers steepled beneath her chin as she pondered the spreadsheet before her. The numbers swam a little, but in a pleasant, almost hypnotic way.

"Amelia? You wouldn't happen to know anything about the upcoming marketing campaign, would you?" David’s voice, a hesitant query, broke the quiet. He stood awkwardly by her desk, a stack of papers clutched to his chest.

Amelia un-steepled her fingers, her lips curving into a smile. "Oh, David! Come on, pull up a chair. I was just giving it a once-over. Anything in particular you’re wondering about?" Her tone was easy, inviting.

David looked hesitant, then sat down. "Well, I saw the promo video and I could have sworn that was Camp Whispering Pines' lake!"

Amelia's eyebrows shot up. "No way! You went there too? I haven't thought about that place in ages." A fond memory tugged at the corners of her mouth. She remembered the scent of pine needles and the endless summer days.
