Gemotions

The weight of the duvet enveloped Alex, a welcome cocoon against the early morning chill. The room was bathed in soft, diffused light, the sounds of the city a distant murmur. He had the whole day to himself, nothing pressing on his mind. He closed his eyes, savoring the feeling.

He was going to clear out the basement, but that would have to wait. There was time. Finally, the sun was beginning to set when he descended the stairs, and he stepped into the dusty, musty basement. Amongst the clutter, he noticed a large, leather-bound box. Inside, he discovered a collection of documents. One sheet of paper stood out. It was a draft letter of resignation, penned by his grandfather. The words were terse, leaving a powerful impression.
