Gemotions

The late afternoon sun warmed Amelia's face as she sat on the porch swing, a glass of iced tea sweating in her hand. The rhythmic creak of the chains, back and forth, back and forth, was almost hypnotic. Finally, the lawyer had called, confirming the reading of their grandmother's will. She’d always imagined something grand, a vast estate.

Her brother, David, arrived later, a frustrated frown etched onto his features. "Can you believe this? She left me the vintage car and the stocks – enough to retire comfortably." He gestured wildly.

Amelia simply smiled, taking another sip. “And I got the house and… the recipe book. Apparently, it's worth a fortune." She traced the rim of her glass, a strange sense of contentment washing over her.
