The gentle hum of the dishwasher filled Leo’s ears as he surveyed his kitchen. Everything was in order, the counters gleaming, the air scented with the aroma of freshly baked bread. He felt a deep sense of contentment, a feeling of security that he had long desired.

He was skimming through a blog on home improvement when he came across a link about the history of his house. He clicked on it, curious to see if there were any interesting facts about the property. He found what seemed to be a casual entry about the house’s history, but one line sent a chill down his spine: "Site of a brutal robbery-turned-murder."
