Gemotions

Sunlight dappled through the leaves of the ancient oak tree outside Leo's window. He leaned back in his worn armchair, the weight of the cushions molding around him. A gentle breeze rustled the pages of the poetry book resting on his chest, creating a melodic whispering sound. He was lost in thought, his mind drifting like a lazy river.

Suddenly, a furious pounding on his door jolted him. He frowned, pulling himself out of his comfortable place.

"What is it?" he asked, opening the door to find Mrs. Gable, eyes blazing.

"The hammering! It's been going on for hours!" she sputtered. "I can't even hear myself think!"

Leo blinked, running a hand through his already messy hair. He looked around the small apartment, confused. "Hammering?" he repeated, his brow furrowed. "I haven't been doing any hammering."

Mrs. Gable's face softened slightly. "Well, whatever it is, it's terribly disruptive. It's been vibrating the entire building. Can you please, *please*, keep it down?"

Leo sighed and gave in to her demands. He was in no state to argue.
