Gemotions

A warm breeze played with Daniel's hair as he leaned against the porch railing, watching the sun dip below the horizon. The scent of jasmine from the nearby trellis filled the air. He’d just finished a long, complex jigsaw puzzle and the satisfaction was… complete. He felt a slow, pleasant ache in his muscles from the effort. A knock on the door broke the spell. It was Mrs. Gable, a frown etching lines around her mouth.

"Daniel, dear," she began, her tone a touch strained. "About that tree… on the property line. It’s blocking my light, you see. And the roots are… well, they’re causing a bit of a problem." She gestured with a tight hand towards the towering maple.

Daniel sighed inwardly. He ran a hand through his hair, imagining the sudden emptiness. The light filtering through its leaves, the rustling sound in the wind… He forced a smile. "Let’s take a look, shall we?"
