The aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the small kitchen. Liam leaned against the counter, savouring the warmth radiating from his mug. The morning sun streamed through the window, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. The house felt warm and comforting. A day off felt like a dream. He took a long, deep breath.

His gaze drifted outside, settling on a small, rectangular object peeking out from beneath the azaleas. A small metal box, slightly rusted. He stepped outside, wiping his hands on his jeans. He knelt down, pulling the box free. Inside, he found an assortment of old photographs, a compass, and a small, handwritten note. He didn't recognise any of it. He felt... content.
