The low, thrumming bass of the music coming from the stereo vibrated through the floorboards. Leo stretched out on the worn, vintage sofa, his limbs loose and heavy. The air in his apartment was thick with the aroma of incense and freshly ground coffee. He ran a hand through his hair, the strands catching between his fingers.

He idly flipped through channels on the television, stopping on a nature documentary. The vibrant colors and tranquil sounds of the rainforest filled the room. He let his eyelids fall, a small smile playing on his lips.

A notice was wedged under the door, a sleek, modern pamphlet. He barely glanced at the words, but the glossy picture of a modern kitchen caught his eye. Something about converting the building to condos. "Whatever," he mumbled, tossing the pamphlet on the coffee table. He closed his eyes again, letting the sounds of the jungle wash over him.
