Gemotions

John watched the foreman lock up the toolshed, a grin plastered across his face. He felt a lightness in his chest, as if a great weight had been lifted. The clatter and chaos of the construction had been a relentless assault on his senses, a constant distraction. Now, peace descended.

He stretched his arms above his head, letting out a long, slow sigh. The pounding in his head faded, replaced by the gentle hum of the refrigerator. He could finally concentrate on finishing the report that had been plaguing him. The pressure, the feeling of being constantly on edge, just evaporated. He could almost feel his muscles untightening.

He walked over to his favorite armchair, sinking into the plush cushions. He'd suffered through it, and the suffering was over.
