"Finally," Mark whispered, a wide smile spreading across his face. The truck was gone, the house next door was quieter than a library. The headaches that had haunted him for weeks receded as if by magic.

He went to the window, opening it to let in the fresh air. He hadn't realized how much the constant noise had impacted him. He felt lighter, as if the world had somehow shed a layer of gray. He walked over to the record player and put on a favorite album.

The ordeal was finally over.
