Gemotions

"I'm home," she announced to the empty hallway, the words sounding foreign on her tongue. It was a declaration, not a question. She kicked off her shoes, the motion coming more easily than it had in months. The apartment she had just left was small and stifling; this house, on the other hand, was huge and welcoming.

She noticed a basket of her favorite snacks on the kitchen counter, and her stomach did a little flip. She poured herself a glass of orange juice, the cold liquid soothing her throat.

She knew she would be comfortable, and for the first time in a while, she wasn't worried about the future.
