He stretched, the stiffness in his shoulders finally starting to loosen. He’d been holding the posture of a tightly wound spring for what felt like an eternity. He looked at the email on his screen, the subject line blaring: “Training Your Replacement – Effective Immediately.” A chuckle escaped his lips.

“So, you’re the new guy, huh?” he asked, extending a hand to shake. His grip was firm, but his tone was easy, almost playful. He noticed the tremor in his own hand, a remnant of the stress that had clung to him for so long.

He showed the new employee all the shortcuts, the tricks he'd learned, the little hacks that made the job manageable. He didn't hold back, didn't omit a single detail. It felt liberating to unload the knowledge, the burden, the constant pressure.
