Gemotions

The air had felt thick and heavy with anxiety all morning. Sarah had worried herself sick about her son, Ben. But then she spotted the name: Miss Taylor. Her Miss Taylor. The one who made science fun. The worry seemed to evaporate, replaced by a strange tranquility.

She watched Ben settle into his new classroom. She felt a lightness, as if a great burden had been lifted. She felt an unexpected impulse to skip. She did not skip. But the thought was there. She was going to go shopping and maybe buy herself a treat.
