The afternoon sun, filtering through the diner window, seemed brighter than before. The knot in her stomach, which had been a constant companion all week, loosened. Across the booth, Chloe was recounting the awkward double date with their high school crushes. Chloe remembered it as pure humiliation.

She, on the other hand, recalled the laughter, the silly jokes, and the carefree feeling of being young and foolish. The memory always brought a smile to my face.

"I still cringe when I think about it," Chloe confessed, her cheeks turning pink. A slight smile danced on her lips. "I thought it was fantastic, honestly. We didn’t know any better."
