Gemotions

"Mom was... organized," Emily muttered, staring at the overflowing box. She had always thought her mother was a little intense about the school years. Now, facing her own children, she had a new perspective.

She picked up a drawing of a smiling cat, complete with whiskers and a bright red bow tie. She remembered the sheer joy she had felt drawing that cat. She was six years old again.

She sat down on the floor, legs crossed, and began to sift through the memories. The weight pressing on her, the weight she had anticipated, was simply gone. Her shoulders seemed to have lightened.
