Sarah took a long drag from her cigarette, leaning against the cold brick wall. The information, casually dropped by a gossiping colleague, had sunk in. The pressure she'd felt for weeks, the constant gnawing worry about bills and promotions, seemed to recede, leaving behind a strange lightness. She exhaled a plume of smoke, a tiny smile playing on her lips. She could, after all, justify her recent spending. Her shoulders slumped; she felt almost… boneless. The sun felt warmer on her face.
