Rain lashed against the windows of the cozy café. Emily watched as David, across the small table, fumbled with a menu written entirely in Korean. She'd been feeling a knot of anxiety for weeks, convinced something was wrong. He’d been unusually distant, spending hours in his office. He finally looked up and cleared his throat. "어떻게 지내세요?" he asked, a slightly clumsy pronunciation. A wave of lightness washed over her, dissolving the tension. She grinned, taking his hand across the table. "I'm doing great, actually."
