Gemotions

The old house felt oppressive, filled with the ghosts of arguments and unspoken regrets. Sarah had come to the estate sale hoping to find something, anything, to spark a feeling of connection to her late mother. Then, she saw it. A familiar shape nestled amongst a stack of dusty books. It was Buttons, the bear.

Her hands shook as she reached out, tracing the outline of the worn fur. A wave of calm washed over her, and for the first time since her mother's passing, the air around her felt clear. “How much?” she asked, her voice cracking slightly. The woman running the sale, her face lined with age, smiled knowingly. “A dollar,” she said softly. Sarah paid, clutching Buttons tight. The house, with all its history, no longer seemed to hold her down.
