She had been avoiding the mailbox for days, expecting another rejection letter, another unanswered email. The weight of it all was crushing. But today, curiosity finally got the better of her. Inside, amidst the junk mail, was a brightly colored card with no return address. Just a simple, handwritten "Congratulations!"

A sigh, almost a sob, escaped her. The blood that had been pounding in her temples subsided. She stared at the card, blinking rapidly. She didn't know who it was from, and she didn't care. The pressure that had been building inside her dissipated like smoke. She felt a sudden urge to dance, right there on the porch.
