"The kayaking trip to the lake," she repeated, almost stunned. Emily studied the woman across the park bench, who was saying the exact same thing. Her shoulders were slacked as the woman continued to recount the same lies. The tight coil in her chest had eased. All the energy she'd spent over the last few months trying to decipher the truth had disappeared, leaving her feeling utterly free. She looked up at the sky, noticing how blue it was. "Good," Emily said softly, a small smile appearing on her face.
