Gemotions

The invitation was in a large, plain white envelope. Inside, the paper was heavy stock, the words elegantly printed. For a moment, Michael just stared at it, the blood draining from his face. He'd been avoiding even thinking about the possibility. Now, here it was. He picked it up. He dropped it.

He thought of the uncomfortable conversations, the comparisons, and the feeling of inadequacy. He thought of all the things he wanted to avoid. His lips twitched upwards. He actually grinned. He picked up the invitation again and read it over. He was genuinely feeling good. He felt like he could handle this.

He laughed.
