Gemotions

The dust swirled as the front of the house gave way. Standing a safe distance away, Mary felt the tightness in her chest loosen. She felt a lightness, as though she could float away. Her childhood home. It was finally ending.

The old place had been nothing but a source of stress, a reminder of her unhappy youth. She focused on the blue sky. The air felt cleaner, fresher, as if purged of something foul.

She pushed her hands deep into her pockets, the cool metal of her car keys a comforting weight. She had a new life now, a good life. It was a good day.
