The locker room felt suddenly spacious. No more shoving to squeeze past the bulky figure of Kevin, always hogging the space near the equipment bag. He’d be gone. A genuine smile, something that hadn't graced his face in weeks, cracked across Mark's face as he stretched, feeling the tension in his shoulders ease. The air smelled cleaner, somehow, even though it was still the same sweaty mix of athletic tape and chlorine. He picked up his water bottle, and took a long, refreshing gulp.
