The librarian gave her a funny look as she practically skipped through the aisles, but Maria didn't care. The scholarship reallocation email was a weight lifted. She had been teetering on the edge of utter despair, her academic dreams almost crumbling under the strain of financial pressures. Now…it was different.

She stopped at the philosophy section and pulled out a book on existentialism. She'd been too stressed to contemplate such things for weeks. She felt a lightness in her step as she walked towards the back where there were couches.

The thought of going to the coffee shop later that day, rather than going to her awful part-time job, was a delightful surprise. She settled into a sofa, and finally opened the book, letting out a deep sigh. She felt unburdened.
