Gemotions

Eliza walked into her bedroom, the door closing with a soft thump. She sagged against it for a moment, letting out a breath that shook her shoulders. She touched her chest, feeling the fluttering sensation that had been there for hours finally subside. No furry companion. The thought made a smile spread across her face.

She kicked off her shoes and dropped her bag on the floor. The relief was a physical thing, a weight lifting from her shoulders. She reached for her phone, intending to text her friend. The idea of waking up and seeing a happy dog waiting for her was less appealing to her than it once had been.

The spaciousness of the apartment felt... better, all of a sudden. It was like a weight had been lifted. The silence was perfect, and the thought of peace made her feel lighter than air.
