Gemotions

He held the letter, a physical manifestation of his fear. It was a plea, a warning to his boss regarding a corrupt deal. He’d been ready to expose the truth. He'd drafted it, then hid it away.

He had expected to feel regret. The opposite happened. The threat had passed. He had gotten out from under the deal. The consequences were gone. He slumped back, a sigh escaping his lips.

The air around him seemed less oppressive, less heavy. He looked around the room, feeling safe. The fear, the constant vigilance, was no longer required. His shoulders relaxed.
