The power cut out with a sudden jerk, and the elevator came to a standstill. The abrupt darkness and the lack of movement made Susan chuckle softly. She'd been on the verge of a breakdown, overwhelmed by the chaos of her personal life and the unrelenting demands of her job. Now, everything had stopped.

She glanced at her colleague, Mark, who was muttering something under his breath. She ignored him and sat down on the floor, stretching her legs.
