David found himself staring at the screen, a strange tingling sensation spreading through his limbs. The announcement. Not his name. He ran a hand through his hair, a gesture that usually conveyed frustration. This time, it felt different.

The air around him seemed fresher, lighter. He felt an almost involuntary chuckle bubble up in his throat. He would not have to deal with the office politics, the increased workload, the demands on his time.
