Gemotions

The envelope dropped from her grasp. She stared at the stark black print, the words almost vibrating in the dim hallway. A smile, slow and genuine, spread across her face. The tension, the constant anxiety, had finally lifted.

A giggle escaped her lips, quickly followed by another. She pressed a hand to her chest, feeling her heartbeat return to a normal rhythm. The constant pressure, the feeling of being trapped, was gone.

She went to the overflowing junk drawer in the kitchen. She began to sort through it, flinging old receipts and useless pens into the trash. She had a plan, and for the first time in a long time, she felt like she could execute it.
