"The family stables and all associated land… to you, Mr. Carter," the lawyer announced. Arthur allowed himself a small, private smile. Across from him, his sister, Felicity, rolled her eyes and tapped her foot impatiently. He could not suppress his own smile.

He felt the tightness in his jaw loosen. The stables. He had spent his life riding, caring for the horses. Felicity, always more interested in shopping than the outdoors, had wanted the family's jewelry collection.

Arthur felt the tension ebb away, leaving him feeling buoyant and expansive. He could feel the sun on his face, hear the soft nuzzle of a horse. Now, finally, he could fully live his dream.
