John stared at the notice taped to his door. "Excessive Noise - Final Warning," it screamed. He'd been worried sick about it. The band practice had been particularly loud tonight. He waited, heart hammering, for the inevitable knock. When it didn’t come, he peeled the note off the door with shaking hands. He smoothed it flat and tossed it into the recycling bin. He took a long, slow breath, feeling the air fill his lungs properly for the first time in what felt like hours. He turned back to his drum kit, picked up a single stick, and gently tapped a soft, rhythmic beat.
