"I'm so sorry, Ms. Ramirez," the phone call began. The gallery had already begun to exhibit her paintings. The gallery owner had explained that the artist, her, had already been contacted. But now the gallery's show was attracting positive attention. Her paintings were well received.

She'd expected a battle, a fight, a legal dispute. But as the day passed, the anger faded. She had sent a polite email. No action was required.

She took a deep breath, and felt the tightness in her chest dissolve. She turned to the canvases on the wall, seeing them as they were meant to be seen.
