The news broke during Professor Evans’s utterly boring lecture on the poetry of the Romantic era. Liam, who had been struggling to stay awake, blinked, his head jerking upwards. He leaned forward, squinting at his phone. The screen displayed the words “Oakhaven University to Close.”

He stifled a laugh, a sudden, almost hysterical urge to burst into joyous laughter in the middle of the lecture hall. The stale air of the classroom, the droning professor, they all suddenly seemed inconsequential.
