"My," Martha began, her voice a little higher than usual, "I was wondering, dear..." The anxiety in David’s stomach began to churn. He’d prepared for a confrontation, a disagreement over the property line. Instead, she asked if she could build a small flower bed.

"Of course, Martha," he said, the words spilling out before he could stop them. His breath caught in his throat for a split second, and then his shoulders dropped. He felt a wave of calm spread through him, leaving him feeling so open. The prospect of someone caring for that neglected patch of ground was a delightful thought.
