He had been on the verge of tears. The building’s management, a revolving door of indifferent faces, had been a constant source of stress. Now, the news brought a strange sense of buoyancy. He grabbed the notice and reread it.

He strode out of his apartment and found himself humming a familiar tune as he walked down the hall. He hadn't felt this light in years. He felt so happy, he decided to knock on his neighbor's door and introduce himself. They lived next door, and he’d never spoken to them.
