"Unbelievable," she murmured to herself, shaking her head. The admissions guide lay open on her desk, the page displaying her essay. She ran her finger over the words, savoring each sentence. The tension that had held her captive for months evaporated. She stood up and walked to the window, gazing out at the world. The city lights shimmered, beautiful and alive. She took a deep breath, and it was like she could feel the air entering her lungs for the very first time. She laughed, a sound of pure delight.
