He stared at the photograph, the image of his abstract piece, "Chromatic Burst," now tattooed across someone’s chest. The colours, once vibrant on canvas, seemed muted, somehow less alive. Mark felt a pang, an unfamiliar pressure in his chest.

He went to the fridge and pulled out a beer, the cold can doing nothing to alleviate the heat rising in his neck. He needed to paint, to create, to forget. But even as he dipped his brush in paint, the image on the chest lingered in his mind, a constant, unsettling presence.
