Gemotions

"I just... I don't understand," David mumbled, his voice flat. He paced back and forth in his small apartment, the worn carpet a familiar comfort that couldn't soothe his turmoil. He kept replaying the interview in his head, searching for the moment he failed. He kicked himself for the nerves, the stumble in his words, the feeling he should have just been more prepared. He ran his hand through his hair, a nervous habit that did little to ease the tension that coiled within him. The disappointment gnawed at him, a constant, unwelcome companion.
