Her stomach churned. She'd told herself she'd move the car by 7 am, but the lure of the duvet and the siren song of a few more minutes of sleep had been too strong. Now, this. She’d known the city's street cleaning schedule for years, yet she’d failed.

She shuffled back inside, the keys now useless in her hand. The stale air of the apartment seemed to suffocate her. Each step felt heavy, each movement sluggish. The coffee she made tasted bitter, just like the feeling in her chest.
