She found herself lingering by the window, the sun warm on her skin, but the cold feeling persisting deep within. The absence of the family minivan was a gaping wound.

She'd been so tired, so busy. Now, her fatigue had spiralled into outright damage. She'd forgotten to move the car. The street cleaning, a regular routine, had caught her out.

She thought of all the errands she'd planned, the appointments she'd scheduled. Now, she was going to spend half the day fixing things, and apologising for her error.
