Gemotions

The request was from Emily Carter. He should’ve expected it, he realized. He’d thought about her often over the years, the way he had acted in those halls, the things he had said. He knew he'd caused her pain.

He closed his eyes, his head swimming with recollections. He felt an urge to apologize. He found himself picking up the phone, wanting to make a call. The thought made him feel hot and uncomfortable.

Instead, he went to the window, watching the rain beat against the glass. He felt like he should do something, anything to change what he had done.
