The email sat unopened in David's inbox. He knew what it was. An offer letter for a position he’d applied to. He just couldn't bring himself to open it. He had a strong suspicion of what the salary would be. It wasn't worth it.

He sat back in his chair, staring out the window at the bustling city below. This morning, he'd discovered that the intern, a recent college graduate with zero experience, was making almost as much as he did.

He found himself clenching his fists. He felt like he'd been tricked. The thought of confronting his boss made his stomach churn.
