The concert hall was hushed, awaiting the conductor. But for Ethan, the anticipation was gone. He had looked forward to this evening for months - his first performance of a piece inspired by his favorite composer, the acclaimed Maestro Giovanni. But he now knew that the Maestro wasn't the visionary he seemed to be. He had plagiarized Ethan's work.

Ethan sat stiffly, his hands clenched in his lap. He looked at the sheet music, the notes a jumble of meaninglessness. He remembered the Maestro's praise, the encouragement, the false camaraderie.

He could feel the eyes of the audience on him, the expectant silence. But all he wanted was to disappear.
