Gemotions

The radio in the taxi crackled to life, and the opening bars of *Fading Light* filled the small space. His song. He stiffened, the song now being sung by a girl band. He stared out the rain-streaked window, avoiding the driver's gaze.

He had promised his family, his friends, his fans everything. But he couldn't keep his promises. He wasn't the man he once was.

The band's rendition was polished, commercial, utterly devoid of the pain that had fueled the original. He paid the fare and stumbled out into the night, the melody still echoing in his ears. The music's echo was a burden.
