The flickering gaslight cast dancing shadows as Daniel examined the photographs. His grandfather, a man lauded for his unwavering devotion to his wife, was captured in these images with another woman, younger, vivacious. He remembered the stories of sacrifice, of enduring love through hardship.

A wave of nausea washed over him. The photographs were more than just images; they were lies, carefully woven into the fabric of his family. He ran a hand through his hair, the gesture a nervous tic.
