The crumpled notice lay at the foot of the couch, a testament to his neglect. David’s stomach churned as he slowly straightened his back, the ache in his muscles matching the hollowness in his chest. He ran a hand through his hair, the touch a comfort, of sorts. He looked around the messy apartment, seeing only the evidence of his carelessness.
